CBN (Cannabinol)

⚗️ Science First mentioned: Ep. 001

A cannabinoid that develops through the long-term degradation of CBD. Associated with sedative effects, making it potentially useful for insomnia. Develops naturally through extended curing. Traditional Moroccan hash, cured over months or seasons before it leaves the country, is likely to carry elevated CBN levels.

CBN came up in the context of traditional hash production. Bubbleman noted that Moroccan hash — which is often cured for months or even seasons before export — naturally develops higher CBN levels through the slow degradation of CBD over time. This is why old-school Moroccan hash is often described as more sedative and body-heavy compared to freshly made concentrates. It's an example of how time, storage, and curing conditions alter the cannabinoid profile in ways that traditional hash makers understood intuitively long before the science caught up.
